Saturday, June 29, 2019

https://www.facebook.com/events/637714706640789/

Join us for a day full of adventure in the Flint Hills! We will tour the ground of Bird Runner Wildlife Refuge, learn about how this great area was established and what exactly goes into running a wildlife refuge. Followed by a natural dye workshop taught by Betsy Roe.

During the natural dyeing portion students will experiment with and explore how to apply color to fabric using a rich array of natural materials some harvested by students at the reserve. You will also learn how to achieve strong, saturated colors using various mordants, tannins and dye stuffs and practice a diverse array of resist techniques to add dimension and pattern to your works. Participants will take home an assortment of sample fabrics.

Meet at Leaping Llamas at 9:45am to hit the road at 10. We will stop for lunch at The Friendship House in Wamego (included in cost) before starting our tour and workshop. Bring an apron and wear work clothes and shoes.

All workshop materials and lunch included.
