Building my All Star Team: I was excited to finally get to meet Anthony Cay and Tricia Peterson. They have both agreed to be a part of my All Star Team. Anthony Cay will talk about health and Fitness and own a local gym and Tricia is a local food reviewer and owns a catering compnay. Both will be great assets to The Topeka Newsletter!
Candy Day - Teri and I use to meet every year to make Christmas candy. Kids and work got in the way but this year we decided to start the tradition again! Our high school friends Susan and Dawn also wanted to join us! We had an awesome day!!
Family and Friends Christmas party: My friend Lisa had a party at the VFW! My other friend Joey, invited me to go! I get so many invites, I sometimes miss out of the ones I want to go to! The VFW was such a cool place. I went with my friend Stacie and met my other friend Theresa there!! The musical talent was so good! It wasn't a late night but it sure was a fun night! I got to catch up with my friend Joey and hear about all the amazing things he has accomplished in the past few years!
Substitute Teaching: I am still teaching while I wait for advertisers to support the website. This month I taught Spanish Preschool one day. My para did most of the work since I don't speak Spanish! She was very good with the kids.
Another Cold: Three days being around kids under the age of 6 must have taken its toll on me because I got another cold! I fought it off but ended up loosing my voice and spending a few days in bed just to make sure it didn't get any worse. I have learned to stop and take care of myself so I don't get something that requires a doctor or strong meds. I missed an entire week of working out. Once I started back, I did a complete workout change. It was time to do new things!
Monday Beer Night- I missed one Monday due to being sick. We did go to Burger Stand one Monday and I had my always delicious Black and Blue Burger. I also got to meet Ryan's new friend that is a girl. She was very nice! He even stayed out until 9:30 that night! Ninety minutes longer than normal!
Fire Downtown at 913 S Kansas Ave: As if we didn't already suffer from construction and lose of employees in downtown, a fire next door has closed both of the restaurants. We didn't suffer any fire damage but Field of Greens suffered mild smoke damage and The Break Room suffered from heavy smoke damage. We have no clue how we are going to pay the bills and get everything open! We are trying to be positive but we have been knocked down over and over again and this one was bad! My brothers are working hard to get things done but still, it isn't going to be easy!
So here is what happened:
2:02 am my brother and Cole are woke up to our fire alarm and smoke in their apartment. They both rushed outside to find the building next door on fire in the back alley area. They called 911 and used our fire extinguishers to try to put it out. Fire trucks quickly arivved and the fire was extinguished. If it hasn't been for thier quick actions, we could have lost our buildings. The communication lines had been burned so when our alarm went off, the signal did not go through until Monday when the lines were replaced. If it had burned a little longer and had gotten to the two story part, it could have gone up the wall to the rood and that is when bad things could have happened. My brother and Cole are pretty much heros and help prevent Downtown for a very huge disaster. Once the fire department arrived, Chris began to film. Over 20,000 people have viewed his video. Now we need to figure out how to rebuild!
I am still waiting on the youtube version but if you have Facebook, here is the video that Chris filmed of the fire:

Time with Kolton: This month I was blessed with two different fun nights. One night we went to eat dinner with his and Donovan at Ling's in North Topeka. I had never been there before! It was very good! Then it was just me and Kolton for an afternoon of bowling. This was his second time. He started out using the dino slide to launch his ball. He then built up the confidence to throw it himself. We both used bumpers and after our second game, he asked if we could play one more game. He had gotten a spare in the 2nd game and got a strike in the final game! He was so excited. I video taped him bowling and he had over 450 views. I can't wait to go back, I need all the practice I can get!!
Christmas with Family:We have a small but mighty family. We always just meet at my mom's for dinner and to open presents. This year was a very low key gift giving year since I really don't have much money. It really has nothing to do with the cost of gifts but the time you get to spend together and not kill each other! Our family holidays are quite entertaining! It was fun and I got some cool things! It was the first year that I didn't wake up and Chelsea was here to open gifts. That was sort of weird but I also realize that life changes and you just need to go with the flow! Chelsea got me some really cool eye make up. My mom got me clothes and a bluetooth selfie stick. Yes, I now have a selfie stick, this could be dangerous!!
Going through my kid's toys - Due to the lack of space, I have been storing my Kid's toys in the basement of Field of Greens. After the fire, my mom asked me to go through them. I spent about 6 hours soting through memories. I kept about 1/2 of it and gave one of our employees a lot of stuff for her kids. I am happy to know someone else is having fun with the toys. I also gave Kolton a box of toys! He was pretty excited with most of it. He will grow into some it. He is in first grade and reads at a 4th grade level. He and I have been reading since he was three years old. I gave him a box of chapter books that he will enjoy soon!
Another new Accounting Client - I have many different types of accounting clients. Some, I do everything. I have some that I just do their payroll and then I also can go in and set them up and show them how to do it themselves and am on call to reivew and make sure they are doing it correctly. My newest client wants to do her own accounting but needed some help getting it set up correctly. Now, if she needs any help, I can go in and review her work and make necessary changes. I have also been contacted by a couple more people who are seeking accounting help! I am pretty excited about that!!
Shopping and Dinner in KC - My mom sent me to Kansas City to finish my shopping. She wanted to buy me some more clothes and I love Stein Mart! I went to KC shopping by myself and enjoyed the day. Then I met with my friend Tom at Johnnys for drinks and dinner before he headed off to Wisconsin to spend the holidays with his family. I really like their Wilson wings. I normally do not eat wings but these are so good!
New Pumpkin Walnut Bread Recipe - Chelsea found a new recipe for Pumpkin bread. It was so good, I ended up making another batch. I made them in small loaves so we could freeze them!
